Easter at Daisy and Dragon

I was very eggcited (sorry!) to have my first Easter toddler class in my new venue! And the fact that every class sold out just made it even better!

I decorated the room with some hand made Easter bunting - I love being able to decorate my own space now, I really think it makes a big difference to the vibe in the room! I originally trained as a set designer and I’m looking forward to transforming the room for other weeks in the future!

We started the class by reading an Easter story! I chose an interactive book that I could get the children involved in while reading with lots of actions and taking turns to lift the flaps to find the eggs. It was a big hit! The children were all very patient and practiced taking turns, I was very impressed.

After the story we had lots of different Easter activities to explore!

We had a blackboard where the children could match the patterned eggs using egg shaped chalk. This helps develop skills such as pattern recognition, pairing items and drawing.

We also had our messy tray with little colourful chicks! The children used their fine motor skills and colour recognition skills to pick up the chicks with the tweezers and sort them into the correct coloured nests.

We had our very own Easter hunt as I hid little Easter pictures all around the room for the children to find and tick off their lists! The treasure hunts are always a favourite in the classes!

Of course we also had our arts and crafts table! We had lots of Easter colouring in sheets we could paint and colour with pens as well as a craft activity to make our own Easter card to take home! We stuck feathers, eyes, a beak and egg shells on to colourful card using glue to make little chicks! The children were very good at this and all created beautiful cards!

At the end of the class we played some games - musical statues and a parachute game! We then finished the class with bubbles!

And of course it wouldn’t be Easter if we didn’t have a little bit of CHOCOLATE!

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a fun week!

Did you come along? What was your favourite part of the class?
